| Beneath this large brick barbecue and patio, constructed by John M. Walton, Sr. (1912 – 2000) in the mid 1960s, is a trash-filled pit where an icehouse once stood. During the winter months, blocks of ice were cut from nearby frozen streams and ponds to be used here in the icehouse along with wood shavings to provide cold storage for perishable food items. |
