This frame building was originally constructed as a dairy in the late 18th or early 19th century, but was later converted into a washhouse. As a dairy, milk was stored here in a cool environment, from which servants could churn butter or make sweet cream. A large coal-burning furnace and large sinks were added to the inside of the structure after it became a washhouse.
