17 Feb 1875 At a meeting of the Board of School Commissioners, it was ordered that the Attorney for the Board investigate and report to the Board on the condition of the houses built by the Freedmen's Bureau in Prince George's County during Reconstruction. 24 Nov 1876 At a meeting of the full Board of School Commissioners it was ordered that the examiner purchase books and stationary as needed for use by the colored schools and those supplies be placed under the supervision of William Stewart for the sale to the colored schools. Schools were required to use cash for their school supply purchases. Each teacher was accountable for the amount of supplies in his or her possession and for recording receipts to be reported quarterly. 29 Jun 1877 As approved by the Board of School Commissioners, an ad was placed in the county newspapers that announced that two colored schools per election district was approved, applicable to those districts that did not already have two school locations. 15 Jul 1881 The Board of School Commissioners received a delegation of colored citizens representing the interests of the colored schools of the county. These citizens were a part of a committee appointed by the Educational Convention of Colored People. The committee (delegation) members were Henry Vinton Plummer, Ferdinand Gustavas Hall, and William H. Stewart, (all black). They went to the Board to determine if all was being done to represent the interests of the colored people fo the county with regard to the schools.
